A WORRIED councillor fears children could be at risk from drug addicts littering Spa streets with used syringes.
A Chawson pensioner who discovered two hypodermic needles in Celvestune Way approached Droitwich Spa town Cllr John Cook (Lab, Droit.West) with her concerns.
She was worried that a nearby subway could become a haven for junkies.
Cllr Cook is now calling for better policing in the area or closure of the subway.
He said: "Youths gather in the area drinking and I fear some may have been introduced to drugs.
"It's pitiful that we have this problem in our community.
"I have grave concerns not only for young people who can be led astray but also for people who could be harmed by their addiction.
"Many parents use the subway to access schools and nurseries.
"What would happen if young children picked up a needle and pricked themselves?"
He added: "People who drop syringes have no respect for anyone else."
A police spokeswoman said: "Our priority is with the public and their safety.
"Anyone who finds hypodermic needles should contact police immediately and under no circumstances should they handle them."
