A MAJOR project to help victims of domestic violence will be officially launched in Redditch this month.
The plans to set up the NEW Hope scheme in Redditch and Bromsgrove were announced almost a year ago.
And now with a full time co-ordinator and proposals to obtain charitable status and funding, the £60,000 a year project is beginning to gather momentum.
More than 1,000 incidents of domestic violence are reported in Redditch and Bromsgrove each year.
Co-ordinator Roger Blackwell said: "We hope to start offering services, such as a helpline and counselling, in the new year."
The group is also looking for offices in the town centre to start a drop-in centre.
The official launch at the town hall on Monday, November 27, will include a number of workshops, drama sketches and presentations.
Anyone interested in attending the launch can call Mr Blackwell on 584888 ext 3285.
