AS bonfire night draws near, Redditch folk can expect an entire weekend packed full with sparkling events, all guaranteed to be a blazing success.

On Friday, Tardebigge First School will be holding a family firework spectacular, with a bonfire being lit at 6pm.

There will be serenaded fireworks set off at 6.30pm, refreshments and glow wands on sale as a fun replacement to sparklers.

Tickets cost £2, or £6 for a family ticket with all proceeds going towards providing equipment for the school.

The Nevill Arms will also be holding its festival of fireworks on Friday. The bonfire will be lit at 6.30pm at the donkey field next to the pub and the fireworks will start at 7pm, admission is £1.

Children will also be entertained with a disco in the pub, which will be held from 6.30-9pm.

Also on Friday, the Jubilee Inn will be keeping people well-fed with a pig roast while keeping them warm round a crackling bonfire and watching the skies for the firework display. The lighting-up will take place at 7pm.

Townsfolk who attended Astwood Bank Carnival will know the committee always holds a fantastic event.

Saturday, November 4, promises more of the same when the committee holds its bonfire party on the carnival field, Edgioake Lane.

Gates open at 6.30pm, light-up is at 7pm and the firework display is at 7.45pm.

There will be music from The O'Cajunal Playboys, a bar, hot food and various entertainment.

Tickets are £3 for adults, accompanied children are free, unaccompanied children are £1.

Also on Saturday, from 7pm, the Friends of Alcester High School will be holding their bonfire bash at Bidford's Big Meadow.

There will be hot refreshments, a Guy Fawkes competition and free car parking.

Tickets are available in advance from the school or Morgans Newsagents, Bidford High Street, for £1.50. Tickets on the door cost £2.

There will be explosive fun for all the family at Redditch fire station, Birmingham Road, on Sunday, November 5, lighting up at 7.30pm.

As well as a stunning display which never fails to impress the crowds, there will be a bonfire, children's rides and delicious hot food.

Admission is £2 for adults, £1 for children.
