Wythall residents can help lay the foundations of a £50,000 project to build a centre for young people with the launch of a "buy-a-brick" campaign.
Wythall Parish Church and charity Cornerstone set up the millennium project to provide accommodation for needy young people, in 1999.
So far, £33,000 has been raised towards the centre, which will house and teach vital life skills to 16 to 25 year olds who have come from foster care.
Assistant co-ordinator Philip Martin said: "We are asking people if they would like to buy a brick for the centre at a cost of £5 each.
"The names of everyone who buys a brick will be written in a project supporters' book, which will be placed at the centre."
The centre will offer young people the chance to learn to care for themselves.
It will have 16 dormitories, a lounge, games room and kitchen and residents can stay for up to 12 months.
