A GANG of youths launched a prolonged and vicious attack on a lone man travelling on a Redditch bus last Thursday night.
Police are investigating the assault which happened at about 11.30pm on the number 58 bus travelling form Church Green in the town centre to Matchborough.
About 10 youths carried out what police described as a vicious and sustained assault on the victim after verbally abusing him.
Pc Andy Jones, of Redditch police, said: "This was a prolonged and vicious attack by a large group on a man travelling alone.
"There were other people on the bus at the time and I would urge anybody who witnessed the assault or has any information which could assist the police to contact us."
The man was taken to the Alexandra Hospital where he was treated for his injuries before being released. He was not detained.
