YOUNG people who may one day lead the rural industry in Bromsgrove and Droitwich Spa are being invited to join a group of like-minded people.

The Worcestershire branch of the Young Farmers' Club (YFC) is targeting folk who have an interest in the countryside and want to improve their social life.

The group is constantly changing to cater for the modern needs of residents aged between ten and 26 living in rural areas.

There are 12 clubs across the county, including groups in Bromsgrove, Hagley, Wythall and Cutnall Green.

Members enjoy a busy social life, organised leisure and outdoor activities, and an extensive range of competitions.

The club has recently undergone modernisation and although it still has links with agricultural traditions and rural crafts, new opportunities are being made available.

To help YFC keep up to date with modern issues, a new lottery-funded youth worker, Lucy Gobbin, has been appointed to help county clubs.

She told the Advertiser: "My main task is to work and support people running their own clubs.

"The other part of my work will involve promoting the world of YFC and getting the message across that we have many opportunities to offer.

"For example, members get together for clubbing, social events, discos, live bands, and even travelling the world.

"You can pick and choose what you would like to do."
