A HOUSING developer is carrying out investigations after two dogs died following walks on land in Bromsgrove which the firm recently doused with weedkiller.
Bromsgrove District Council contacted Westbury, which, about a month ago sprayed the site at Parklands with a product called Round-Up, following calls from distraught owners.
The product is recommended by the authority to be used in public areas because it is not harmful to animals.
A spokeswoman for Cheltenham-based Westbury said it was unlikely the weedkiller had caused harm to the pets and the company was waiting for a report from a vet.
She added the owners of the dogs which had died were satisfied the company were not linked to the deaths.
A council spokesman said residents contacted the authority because it is public land but officers put them in contact with the landowners.
He added: "We took this very seriously and asked Westbury to fully investigate which it has."
