LORD Faulkner of Worcester has risked upsetting a few of the pipe-puffers who inhabit the House of Lords.
He is calling for a ban on smoking in all areas where the Parliamentary staff work.
''Should we not protect our staff from the harmful effects of passive smoking?'' he asked in the Lords.
''In their interests, why do we not eliminate all smoking in areas where we expect our staff to work, particularly the refreshment areas, the bars and the library?''
Lord Boston of Faversham, chairman of committees, said that it was for the respective Lords' committees to decide how to implement any proposed code of practice on passive smoking.
