ANGUS Robert MacKay got his first taste of Parliamentary life this week.

Fortunately for Angus, the 11-day-old son of Bromsgrove MP Julie Kirkbride, he did not have to endure the debacle of MPs choosing a new Speaker.

He was in a family room with his nanny in the Commons on Monday while MPs elected a successor to Betty Boothroyd.

Tory MP, Miss Kirkbride, who is married to Shadow Northern Ireland Secretary Andrew Mackay, had no intention of bringing Angus into the chamber if he needed a feed.

She has been a vociferous critic of the Blair Babes who have campaigned for breast-feeding to be allowed in the House of Commons committee rooms.
