REDDITCH United can be assured of a regular following this season after the launch of a new supporters' club.

The team's success over the past two years has prompted fans to form the club, which has the backing of the board of directors.

And it is already proving a big hit, with more than 60 members signed up before the start of the 1999/2000 campaign.

It will be responsible for selling merchandise into the soon-to-be-built club shop, which will plough the funds back into the club.

Treasurer Alan Williams, who has been a Reds fan for more than 30 years, said: "The response has been amazing but we are hoping for many more once the season gets under way.

"But it is dependent on the team being successful on the pitch because this will bring in more people.

"We think it will grow and it is definitely value for money."

The benefits include a £10 discount on a season ticket, away match transport, a supporters club draw and social events.

Chairman Rod Laight said:" The new supporters club is an indication Redditch United are moving in the right direction.

"They have also helped the club throughout the close season. We must have some of the most dedicated fans around."

Membership costs £2 for adults and £1 for children and pensioners.
