REDDITCH UNITED (1) 4

Yate Town (0) 0

REDDITCH made it 13 goals and nine points from their last three home games with this convincing victory over the league's bottom side.

And the result, which saw the Reds climb to fifth in the table, was achieved without the prolific Micky Moore, who was forced to pull out of the Redditch line just before kick-off with a hamstring injury.

But this was not a reprieve for Yate as Paul Danks set the Reds up for their biggest winning margin of the season just before the half-hour.

Danks was on hand to poke home the ball from close range after the Bluebell's Alex Stocker failed to clear Micky Williams corner.

Up to that point Redditch had controlled proceedings but without any real threat to the Yate goal.

It was then left until the final two minutes of the half for the match to spring back to life when Stocker almost made amends for his error, by shooting wide from the edge of the Redditch area after the home side had only partly cleared a corner.

Seconds later, Redditch were on the attack and only the quick reactions of Yate keeper John Rendell denied Nicky Cross from increasing the lead.

Reds were then gifted a free-kick inside the Yate box following a back pass to the keeper, but Redditch wasted the opportunity.

The second half began much brighter with Paul Moore striking a 20-yard effort just past the post before Craig Love netted his first for the Reds from a 25-yard free kick, which kept low and crept in at the near post.

Redditch's dominance paid off eight minutes later when Danks set up Moore to hit a looping shot from distance. Rendell managed to get a hand to it but could not prevent it hitting the back of the net.

Danks wrapped up the victory following a neat move between substitutes Mark Smith and Jamie Hart. Smith curled the ball out to Hart on the left wing, who then beat his man before squaring the ball to Danks to volley home from six-yards.

Redditch: Adey, Moore, Love, Barry, Farmer, Manton, Field (Randall 67), Nicholls (Smith 80), Cross (Hart 67), Williams, Danks.
