PRESIDENT Jean Kimberley-Martin welcomed everyone to the June meeting. There will be an outing to Calke Abbey on August 16.

VCO Jackie Gregory, a delegate at the recent TGM 2000, gave her report of an enjoyable day spent at Wembley. Our speaker was Michael Durkin, who gave a knowledgeable account of Harvington Hall, near Kidderminster, with its Arabesque paintings and hiding holes.

The garden meeting was held at the home of Diana Harris, in Alvechurch. With business over, we walked around the extensive garden and admired the lovely rolling countryside in the distance. We then went inside for some light entertainment in the form of poetry reading from Val Adams, which was humorous. She then had us racking our brains to write a few limericks.

Our next meeting will be on September 12, when Jean Harper cooks simple starters.
