AS Sylvia Cartwright was about to open the July meeting, the hall was plunged into gloom by a power cut. The speaker, Patrick Lynch, had arrived early and was still willing to give his talk on behalf of Save the Children. He outlined the society's main aims -- to ensure the rights of all children to be fed, educated and have security.
After this interesting talk we were still able to provide refreshments. By now the hall was almost in darkness so business was quickly concluded.
