The FA Cup draw has thrown up an interesting possibility as far as I'm concerned -- and that's the chance of locking horns with my old Liverpool team-mate Nigel Clough.

When George Best and Alan Mullery made the draw on Sky television on Saturday we found ourselves being paired against Nigel's Burton Albion or Boston United whose fourth qualifying round match had ended in deadlock at 1-1.

The replay is at Burton's Eton Park tonight so we don't have long to wait now to see who will be visiting us at Aggborough on Saturday, November 18.

To be perfectly honest I've no real preference about who we play, but I suppose the Clough link makes it interesting.

I played alongside Nigel and I've roomed with him during our days at Liverpool, so I know him well. But I don't really mind who we play, it's up to them to battle it out for whoever comes to face us.

Whoever it is we will be ready for them. We'll have to be because there are so many shocks every year in the FA Cup.

It goes without saying that a win for us against either of them would give our players no end of confidence and a good cup run is always a welcome boost financially for a club like us.

On a way back on the coach on Saturday after our match was called off because of a waterlogged pitch at Plymouth we were talking briefly about the FA Cup draw which was going to be made later in the day.

And the thing we said was that all we could ask for was a home tie -- and that's exactly what we've got.

It's strange, though, that we played both sides in pre-season matches, winning 4-1 at Burton and drawing 1-1 at Boston.

But whoever we play will be difficult. Burton so far are unbeaten in all competitions and Boston are starting to find their feet in the Conference.

Boston have been to Rushden & Diamonds and got a good 0-0 draw, so they can go away from home and shut up shop which is probably what they will do if they come here to Aggborough.

But just to be back in the first round of the FA Cup is tremendous and you can guess how much we are all looking forward to having a good run.

I must say I'm sorry for all those who made a wasted trip to Plymouth on Saturday. It was disappointing having got there to have it called off, but the conditions were terrible.

A day off, though, won't do us any harm. We have just had tough games against teams like Chesterfield and Darlington so the break has given us that little bit of extra time in preparation for this Saturday which is obviously going to be a big game for us against Cheltenham Town at Aggborough.

All the lads were able to train yesterday, including Ian Foster who didn't travel with us to Plymouth because he took a knock on the knee on Friday in training.

But he was okay yesterday and I think that was the first time this season that all the lads were fit enough to train together.

Hopefully, we'll be able to stay injury free now as we've got some important matches coming up. Another thing to update fans on is the current situation regarding John Durnin.

As you know he came to us on a month-long contract with a view to a permanent move. That month will be completed after our match with Cheltenham on Saturday, but the chairman has said that we are in a position to offer him a contract to the end of the season.

It just depends now on whether we can agree personal terms with him. And that doesn't mean we are going to agree to everything that he wants because we aren't in a position to do that.

I'll be keeping the chairman informed about my talks with Durnin, but ideally I'd like to have everything in place before Saturday.
