RESIDENTS of Stanley Road, Madresfield Road and Delamere Road complained that they had a raw deal over a plan to build 60 houses on a 4.8 acre site off Stanley Road originally earmarked for half that number.
But Coun Philip Battisto supported the plan.
"There is a need for a cheaper type of home in the region for young people who are just starting their first home," he said.
"Those of us who have established ourselves should spare a thought for these young people, who don't want to be stuck in rooms or a flat."
The original plan for 33 homes had been submitted in 1967, since which the firm had been taken over by Maxim Ltd who in 1975 entered into a deal with Malvern Hills District Council to build 60 homes.
