I AM perplexed by the Malvern Hills Conservators' plan to fell mature trees and saplings on the hills in order to reproduce the barren landscape caused by the ravages of decades of grazing and overgrazing.
The trees are natural regeneration, which has been taking place over recent years since the reduction in the numbers of livestock on the hills.
A primary duty laid on the Conservators by the Acts of Parliament is to "preserve the natural aspect of the Malvern Hills and commons and protect the trees, bushes and turf from spoliation."
In view of this I do not understand how the MHC's proposed action, can be lawful.
