MALVERN RFC have signed prop Carl Thomas, former Worcester Development Squad member, to strengthen an area of recent worry.
"We were short of class prop forwards to cover the three excellent regulars," said director of rugby, David Robins.
"With the loss of promising young Mike Boardman due to a career move to the South Coast, we tried to recruit a player from a local side in the lower leagues, but were frustrated in our efforts.
"With the pressures of a longer league season and the possibility of a good run in the Intermediate and County Cups, we made this a top priority, and are delighted that Carl has decided to come to Spring Lane."
Malvern's front row union has been further boosted by the arrival of Andy Logan, hooker, at the club.
A former England Colt, he is working at Malvern College and made his first XV debut last week against Belgrave.
