A CHOIR from Cumbria will be performing a specially-commissioned Millennium work at Malvern Priory next month.
The Levens Choir, under musical director Ian Jones, will be singing Christus Victor, by Adrian Self, the director of music at Cartmel Priory and the choir's accompanist.
They will be performing this major work for unaccompanied choir on Monday, October 23, in the Priory.
Also on the programme will be a selection from the choir's extensive tour repertoire, which includes anthems and motets from a wide variety of Gabrieli, Boyce and Ireland, together with Hymnus Paschalis by Donald Hunt (former music director at Worcester Cathedral), Haydn's Mass In Time Of War and Rutter's Magnificat.
The Levens Choir is one of Cumbria's most respected and best-loved musical ensembles, whose concerts have attracted critical acclaim, and repeated success in the Mary Wakefield Westmoreland Music Festival.
Tickets at £5 (children £1), available on the door and in advance from the Priory Office and the Tourist Information Office.
