KIDDERMINSTER Carolians Rugby Club went through to the second round of the NPI Pilkington Cup without kicking a ball on Saturday.

Shrewsbury were due to visit Marlpool Lane for a first round tie, but conceded the game because they said they were unable to raise a strong enough side.

The second round draw will be made today and ties will be played on Saturday, October 7.

Although Saturday's cup-tie was scrubbed, Shrewsbury brought a side for a friendly match and lost 13-3.

It was a good warm-up for KCs who start their Midlands West One programme with a home game against Telford on Saturday.
