WYRE Forest council taxpayers will have to foot a £1,000 bill for reminders for residents who have failed to return electoral registration forms to the district council.
The authority's chief executive, Walter Delin, who is also electoral registration officer, said more than a third of the forms were still to come in out of the 41,300 delivered to households.
It was a "marginally worse" position than last year and 15,500 reminder forms would be sent out, incurring the extra £1,000 cost for printing and distribution.
The qualifying date for registration is Tuesday, October 10.
