A WYTHALL family was subjected to a terrifying ordeal when gun-wielding masked raiders threatened them in their own home on Saturday night.

The family, including a 15-year-old girl, all had their hands tied and were threatened with guns and bladed instruments by the intruders.

The incident happened shortly after 10.20pm when the father, a businessman from the Maypole area, returned to his Alcester Road home with his daughter.

As they entered the house, two people wearing masks attacked them and the rest of the family.

Police said the attackers left the home after stealing a quantity of cash and the keys to a car belonging to the man's wife.

The raiders drove off in the red BMW 318i, registration S908 JVP, which police said was still missing.

Police were alerted to the incident at 10.42pm after one of the family members was able to reach a telephone.

DC John Marsden said: "This was a particularly nasty incident which occurred at the man's home and has affected his family.

"And it could have had worse consequences."

He added: "We are appealing for any witnesses to the incident, either before or after it happened.

"This was very traumatic for the family, who also suffered cuts to the wrists from being restrained."
