THE petrol crisis gripping the nation shows no sign of easing this morning (Wednesday) in the Stratford area, despite nine tankers leaving the Kingsbury refinery, which supplies South Warwickshire, at 10am this morning.

Petrol stations in the town have mainly run dry, with just a handful with dregs of lead replacement petrol still available. Unleaded and diesel fuel disappeared from most forecourts on Monday night and Tuesday morning like the rest of the nation's filling stations, which has lead to two very quiet days in the town centre.

Cathy Ward, press officer for Warwickshire police, said officers had persuaded reluctant drivers to take the fuel out of the Kingsbury depot, which is in North Warwickshire, however the tankers were destined only for emergency use, leaving ordinary motorists high and dry in the meantime.
