VILLAGERS had a chance to view and make comment on plans for a new housing development in Feckenham at the village hall last Thursday.

Parish councillors, Redditch council's planning officer and representatives from the developers were all present to answer questions and get feed-back

If permission is granted, 28 houses, included five social housing units, will be built on an overgrown, unused area of land off the high street.

The plans were amended several months ago after villagers expressed concerns about some of the proposed three storey houses overlooking existing houses.

But developers Chase Homes have now moved the position of the proposed houses so they will not affect resident's views.

There were also fears about trees with preservation orders being destroyed but plans show that only one will be felled to allow access into the site.

One concern which still exists is that there will be an increase in traffic on the high street, which is already a busy road but planners believe the new development will not cause a significant problem.

Parish council chairman Doug Hickman believes the development will be a positive addition to village life.

He said: "This is a fantastic thing for Feckenham."
