THE run-up to Redditch Carnival day on Saturday has been a real knockout with townsfolk as they join in the fun and frivolity.

Last Saturday, an It's a Knockout competition was held as teams dressed up and battled it out over a fun obstacle course.

In the evening, the winning teams were awarded trophies at HDA Sports and Social Club.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the 70s disco due to be held this Friday evening has been called off.

This means townsfolk will have no excuse not to wake up early to welcome in carnival day, which starts with the procession of floats, walkers and bands though the streets of Batchley, starting at the HDA club.

People who live on the route have a chance to win £50 prize money courtesy of Thomas Brothers Funeral Directors in the Best Decorated House competition.
