TRIBUTES have been paid to a well-known disabled Greenlands man who died from heart failure on August 14 at the Alexandra Hospital.

Glyn Davies, 61, was chairman of Redditch Disabled Access Group for 10 years before stepping down due to ill health.

The keen sportsman and fisherman played wheelchair basketball.

He was also an active member of Otters Swimming Club.

Mr Davies, of Greenlands Avenue, also played a large part in improving facilities for disabled fishermen at Arrow Valley Lake.

The current chairman of Redditch Disability, Dot Hickman, said: "He was a quiet, unassuming man.

"In spite of his disabilities, he was a tireless worker for the rights of disabled people in the town.

"He also advised Redditch Council about disability needs."

Mr Davies was cremated at Redditch Crematorium on August 18.

His widow, Mary, has requested donations to the British Heart Foundation and the coronary care unit at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.
