AN action group opposing housing development in Wythall has been formed as villagers strive to save the green belt.
Last week, a 10-strong committee was established to fight Bromsgrove Council over its plan to include green belt land off Selsdon Close and Norton Lane in its Local Plan.
The group is calling a public meeting tonight to discuss the issue and form an action plan.
It will also encourage villagers to write letters of objection to Bromsgrove Council as the council's consultation period on the plan ends on September 29.
If the Local Plan is endorsed, up to 200 houses could be built on the land.
Action group committee member and Selsdon Close resident Terry Lowe said: "If we wanted to live in a big town or city we would but we've come here because it's rural and we want it kept that way.
"I've been fighting to save the land for 18 years now and unless we continue to fight they will tread all over us.
"Within two or three miles of us we have 3,000 houses being built in Warwickshire, so why spoil any more countryside?"
Tonight's meeting is at Wythall Village Hall, Alcester Road, and starts at 8pm.
