Further to the comments regarding misuse of parking spaces for the disabled (Advertiser, August 30).

The spaces reserved for parents and toddlers at Sainsbury's and Tesco are also abused.

These specifically marked spaces, with wide gaps either side, are to make it easier for people like me, with two small children, to manoevre a large shopping trolley and safely transfer children (mine are nine months and almost four) to the car and strap them into their seats.

This is extremely difficult in the ordinary size spaces.

An even worse abuse is that by those who think these spaces are for a quick trip into the store since they are so close to the door.

Please spare a thought for people with small (often fractious) children struggling with their shopping and do not abuse the spaces set aside to make our lives easier.
