I WRITE with reference to a recent letter which expressed concern regarding the lack of footpaths at Studley Road Park Farm (Advertiser, August 16).

May I clarify a couple of points raised relating to Redditch Council's responsibility for footpaths?

It is the county council's highways section which is responsible for the provision and maintenance of the majority of footpaths within the Redditch area.

The county will therefore reply to any correspondence about footpaths.

Concern was also expressed about the council providing money for local cycle paths - again this was provided by the county council as part of a nationwide cycling promotion.

Redditch Council works closely with the county council to ensure the best possible standard of roads, highways, footpaths and cycle paths.

If any readers have questions or concerns, they are welcome to contact either Allan Share, Environmental Contracts Manager (for landscape maintenance) or Jim Casey, Highways Partnership Manager (for roads, highways, road verges and paths). Both can be contacted at Redditch Town Hall on 64252.
