WORCESTER snooker star Dave Finbow lines up against people's champion Jimmy White this evening -- with a trip to the Orient on the cards for the winner.
Finbow set up his date with the Whirlwind after defeating former World amateur champion Stuart Bingham 5-4 in the fourth qualifying round of the £311,000 China Open at Newport on Saturday.
The Worcester ace, currently the world number 55, recovered from 3-1 down to edge Bingham, the shock conqueror of Stephen Hendry in the first round of last season's Embassy World Championship.
Bingham began with a 126 break in the opening frame and quickly established a two-frame interval lead with further breaks of 40, 51 and 68
But Finbow fired in breaks of 33, 46 and 72 to take a 4-3 lead and, even though Bingham claimed the eighth frame with a break of 102, Finbow won a nervy decider by clearing from yellow to pink.
Finbow said: "I was extremely nervous before the interval, and couldn't settle, I knew I was playing well but didn't perform until the fifth frame.
"After I got in front in the last, I was aware how important every red was, because of the way the balls were situated. Stuart came back at me to within two points, but he missed the yellow and let me in to clear to the pink."
Tonight's winner will head for China for the televised stages in December.
