KIDDERMINSTER Harriers boss Jan Molby is backing Stuart Brock to emerge from the club's goalkeeping crisis with flying colours.

The unlucky Brock broke a bone in his right hand during the warm-up for Harriers 1-0 Worthington Cup first round second leg defeat against Second Division table-toppers Walsall at Aggborough on Tuesday night.

The injury came in the same week that first choice keeper Tim Clarke underwent knee surgery.

Molby said: "It was bad luck on Brocky. It happened in the warm-up and full credit to him for playing the game. He was obviously in some discomfort but it was one of those days that apart from catching a couple of crosses he didn't have a lot to do."

Twenty-three-year-old Brock's first appearance of the season came in Kidderminster's recent Bank Holiday Monday win at Brighton & Hove Albion when he finished top of the club's internet man-of-the-match poll.

Molby said: "Brocky has improved as much as anyone over the last 12 months. I know a lot of people haven't seen him because he hasn't played an awful lot, but that's only because of the good form of Tim Clarke.

"I can't imagine what it must be like to be a second choice keeper because it can't be good for your confidence, but every club has to have second choice keepers."

As well as Clarke and Brock, Kidderminster also have former Bradford City and Wimbledon keeper Brendan Murphy on their books following his close season arrival from Irish Leaguers Dundalk.

Molby said: "Tim is obviously the more experienced of the three keepers we have got and whenever we do goalkeeping courses he's in charge.

"He helps the other two and I know he's very, very keen on Brocky."
