THE leader of Worcester's Conservative party has expressed his concern over the health "crisis" in the county.

Councillor Robert Rowden says he feels there is general public concern about the health service.

He will raise the issue at a council meeting tomorrow under a Notice of Motion. The local health service provision will be addressed.

"I think it's a very serious matter," said Coun Rowden. "We've heard reports of people being treated in ambulances.

"There are also concerns over people getting to Worcester in an ambulance from Kidderminster. There's traffic chaos in Kidderminster at the moment and this is very alarming.

"We want answers now from the appropriate authorities because people aren't happy with the situation and as a council we're not happy.

"I expect that a lot of people will get up and speak at this meeting. Feelings do run high on the issue of health provision in the county."

Coun Rowden said four other councillors backed the Notice of Motion so that the issue can be discussed at the meeting.

Councillors Derek Prodger, Aubrey Tarbuck, Worcester's Mayor, Mary Drinkwater, and Allah Ditta have all supported the notice.

"I think people will be calling for some clarification of what's going to happen," said Coun Rowden. "The situation needs sorting out."
