Preparing for her starring role in the new autumn musical at The Courtyard, professional actress Catherine Grace had a hands-on lesson in the art of pastry making.

Catherine will be playing the role of pie shop owner Mrs Lovett in Stephen Sondheim's musical thriller Sweeney Todd - The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, which will run at the Hereford venue from September 12-23.

The most ambitious musical production at The Courtyard to date, Sweeney Todd tells the tale of the ruthless barber who murders his clients with his deadly cut-throat razor, disposing of them as ingredients for Mrs Lovett's meat pies.

Chef Stuart McLeod, of the Left Bank Village, provided Mrs Lovett with the necessary trade secrets to make her part look authentic.

Catherine is one of seven professional actors in the Sweeney Todd cast, which also includes Barrie Hunter as the demon barber himself. There are also 17 members of the Courtyard Community Council involved.
