UPTON Youth Band is hoping to repeat its previous success in two competitions later this month.

Members had an exciting time in July, winning trophies at two competitions and playing at Disneyland Paris.

The band won the turn-out trophy with full marks at Sondwell, Bristol, where Sharon Coxhead was also awarded the field commander's trophy. A week later, they were third in the novice class at Midsomer Norton, took the trophy for best endeavour and got a bronze medal in the European Championships.

Their most memorable event was at Disneyland Paris, where they put on a parade and gave two performances before a procession of Disney characters.

If they win enough points at events in Kidsgrove and this month, they could go on to the British Youth Bands' Association final in Birmingham next month.
