A SUNDAY school launched last weekend at Upton Parish Church attracted 14 children and their families.

The youngsters, aged two to 13, joined the congregation for the beginning and end of the 9.30am service.

During the service they had their own meeting in the Lady Chapel, specially furnished with child-sized desks and chairs, together with drawing and writing materials provided by local people.

Rector Chris Hardwick was delighted with the response to the new Sunday school, which is the second in the benefice, the other being held at Strensham.

Upton's new church choir, formed in January, is also well supported, with 10 children and 10 adult members.

"We're still keen to recruit more children to both the choir and the Sunday school," said Mr Hardwick.
