THE Nomads weekend was successful with two victories and the bonus of two centuries on Sunday.

The quest for promotion to division one of the Worcester-shire Clubs league continued with a six wicket win over Stourport and the Sunday 1st team defeated Ombersley in a hard fought match.

In the other fixtures the Saturday 3rd X1 was successful at Newland Swan against its counterparts from Barnards Green while the Saturday and Sunday 2nd X1s earned draws.

The high spot of the weekend was a 156 run partnership by Malcolm Jones and John Ranscombe at Ombersley. Both scored centuries with the former achieving the 20 th of his career and the latter a first for Nomads. In his 101 no Jones hit 2 sixes and 12 fours.

In the match which almost secured promotion to the top division of the Worcestershire League Nick Williams (4-48) and Ian Jinks (5-44) bowled unchanged for 50 overs in which Stourport could manage only 103-9.

Dan Rees with 39 no made his first useful and very welcome contribution of the season in securing an easy victory.

The Sunday 2nd X1 did well to hold Ashton under Hill down to 176 runs by tea with thirteen year old Liam O'Driscoll taking 2 wickets for 13 in his five overs.

In the Nomads reply Dave Pearson in his inimitable way batted well against the fiery bowling of Richard Wood who must be one of the better fast bowlers in local cricket and he was given excellent support by young Olly Butterworth.

- Nomads u13 squad enjoyed an excellent season which culminated in finishing fourth nationally in the England and Wales Cricket Board competition for 1500 junior sections across the Country.

Locally ,the young Nomads won the County and regional trophies; the WCB League; the West Malvern six a side; the Colwall sixes and the Club's own festival at Bransford.
