Bromsgrove Rovers earned the right to entertain Oldbury United in the FA Cup 1st qualifying round after a 3-2 victory over Sutton Coldfield at the Victoria Ground last night.

The third meeting of the two sides in only two weeks saw the home side make the early running, taking the lead on 16 minutes.

Winning their fourth corner on the right, Mark Burrow was on hand at the near post to head home Mark Benbow's inswinging corner.

The lead was extended eight minutes later, Sutton Coldfield failing to clear yet another corner and Burgess firing a low shot home from the edge of the area to Tony Rowe's left.

As the home supporters in the 227 crowd were still celebrating, the visitors got back in the game when Neil Began was left unmarked at the near post to slot home from close range following a great right wing run by Steve Behan.

Bromsgrove should have netted again before half time, Sutton and Burgess firing wide while livewire Burgess had a shot cleared off the line.

The second half saw a general deteriation in football but Rovers did grab a third on 65 minutes when Sutton finally beat the offside trap before sliding a low shot under the keeper.

As the half progressed the visitors threw more men upfield and Nore Gabbidon was forced to make several good saves, in particular from Robin Judd and Leon Mitchell before the former scored on 89 minutes.
