MURDERER Rosemary West, who was convicted of killing a Spa teenager, is set to appeal against her ten convictions.

Fifteen-year-old Shirley Hubbard, of Ombersley Road, was one of nine victims found at the so-called House of Horrors, at 25 Cromwell Street, Gloucester.

West is currently serving a life sentence for the murders but her solicitor, Leo Goatley, has confirmed that an application will be submitted to the Birmingham-based Criminal Cases Review Commission.

A previous appeal was rejected in 1996 but Mr Goatley is mounting a new appeal on the grounds that photographs taken by her husband, Fred West, of his victims were withheld at her trial.

Fred West was found hanged at Winson Green Prison, Birmingham, on New Year's Day 1995.

Shirley was last seen on November 14 1974, after she had worked all day at Debenhams' store, in Worcester, on a pre-leaving school course.

Born Shirley Lloyd, she was fostered in Droitwich and was a pupil at the town's Westacre Middle School.

In 1972 she said she wanted to be known as Shirley Louise Hubbard, although her name was never formally changed.

Her foster father Jim Hubbard, now deceased, was a social worker with Worcestershire Soc-ial Services.

Mr Goatley said he would be waiting until October when a new European Human Rights law comes into force before lodging the appeal.
