THREE young male dancers from a Worcester school are on their way to fame and fortune.

Jimmy Chamberlain, aged 10, from Kidderminster, has won a part in the West End production of the musical Les Miserables.

Jimmy will take centre stage after beating dozens of rivals for his role as Gavroche, which calls for a solo.

"Gavroche is a little boy who is rather cheeky and like an artful dodger," said Jimmy, who starred in a production of Oliver in Birmingham last June.

Ben Griffiths, aged 11, has been offered a full scholarship to attend Arts Educational Schools at Tring Park, Hertfordshire.

"He has chosen to attend Tring as there he can have an all-round training in all aspects of dance and theatre," said Paula Dymock, principal of Harlequin Stage School, Perdiswell, where the talented trio attend.

Jack Wilcox, aged nine, has picked up a host of medals and trophies this year, winning Modern and Song and Dance, and coming runner-up in the ballet, at the British Dance Championships in August.

He also won medals for Modern and Ballet at the Worcester Festival and Tap and Most Promising Junior at Leamington Spa Festival this year.

"These boys have really got their foot on the ladder," said Mrs Dymock.

"They've come out of the amateur world into the professional world."

Eight-year old Katie Gaskins, meanwhile, has also been offered a part in Les Miserables and has appeared as Molly in the musical Annie.
