NEW signing Carl Tranter is poised to make his home debut for resurgent Worcester City in tonight's Dr Martens League Premier Division home clash with Clevedon Town (7.45).

The former Kingstonian and Bridgnorth striker was a last-minute signing before Saturday's trip to Ilkeston Town -- and he repaid manager John Barton's faith by scoring once and making another goal in City's 4-2 victory.

Barton plans to pair him again tonight with Mark Owen, who responded to his new strike partner by scoring twice in the Ilkeston victory.

Tranter's arrival proved just the tonic City needed after their disastrous Bank Holiday weekend, having scored twice in a reserve outing last week to earn his chance.

Barton said: "It is an opportunity for him to have a look at us and vice versa. As first games go, we were very pleased with what he did."

Steve Lutz, who dropped successfully back into midfield on Saturday and scored Worcester's first goal, is doubtful for tonight's clash with an ankle injury.

But Danny McDonnell is available to return in goal after a one-match suspension, although his deputy Paul Wyatt performed confidently on Saturday.

Barton said: "We are looking for back-to-back victories after the roller-coaster week we have had. We now need to get a bit of stability and consistency."

But City have to end a miserable run at St George's Lane, where they have not won in the league since February.

Barton added: "Our home record has been poor and we haven't exactly started the season trying to get it any better."
