MALVERN Town completed an unhappy weekend at Rotherwas on Monday afternoon, after losing 5-1 at home to Darlaston on Saturday, when Westfields clinched all three Banks's Brewery League Premier Division points.

WESTFIELDS 3, MALVERN TOWN 1

Although Town were without Cotterill and the injured Maidment, they once again started the better of the two sides, with Judge and Slade leading the line well, Thomas and Wade both making pacy runs down the flanks whilst Ward and Brooks had control in midfield.

The defence, well marshalled by Richard Congrave, was rarely troubled and when Wade headed Malvern in front from Walker's cross in the 25th minute, Town, like Saturday, appeared to be heading for victory. Town though suffered another injury setback when Judge had to be substituted in the 35th minute with a groin problem.

The second period saw Westfields come more into the game, but the visiting defence remained largely untroubled, although Brooks reacted well to clear a header off the line in the 55th minute.

Five minutes later though Town conceded a completely unnecessary goal, when a long ball out of defence overran the Westfields front line and there appeared little danger when goalkeeper King sweeping up, took an extra touch, but instead of launching the ball to safety, fired against the oncoming Craddock, who was then presented with an open goal to secure his side's equaliser and in doing so provided Town with a chronic case of deja vu.

Disaster struck again for Town just five minutes later when a fierce thirty yard drive crashed into the net off the underside of the crossbar.

Shepherd might have equalised for Town in the 78th minute, but fired tamely at the home 'keeper when well placed.

This was Shepherd's last real contribution as five minutes later, he pulled a calf muscle and had to be substituted.

Town's misery was completed in the final minute when a Westfields striker, despite appearing at least two yards offside, slotted past King to seal victory and complete Town's thoroughly miserable and frustrating weekend.
