WORCESTER City boss John Barton has been given permission to bring in loan signings to bolster his squad.

Club chairman Dr Michael Sorensen says Barton can bring in fresh players on a short-term basis after being hit by a spate of injuries and suspensions.

But he says any permanent signings would have to be balanced by players leaving, in view of the club's financial restrictions.

He said: "The manager has been given permission to look for players on short-term loan arrangements.

"Should he wish to approach me with regard to signing people on for the longer term, this can always be considered, but it would mean that current squad players would have to go."

A weakened City suffered two Bank Holiday defeats and conceded eight goals.

Several players are already ruled out for Saturday's Dr Martens League Premier Division game at Ilkeston Town.

Carl Tranter, a striker formerly with Kingstonian, could be another option. He is on trial at City and scored both goals in their 2-2 draw with Kidderminster Harriers in their opening Central Conference game last night. Ian McSherry and Andrew Corbett were on target for Harriers.
