WILLERSEY FOOTLIGHTS: The Footlights Society holds its AGM at Willersey Village Hall on September 8. The society has raised over £8,000 for local charities and organisations and the committee wishes to thank all those who have supported them. Any enquiries should be addressed to Phil Simpson (858150) or Maurice Andrews (858448).

BLEDISLOE CUP: Willersey has reached the final of the Best-Kept Village Competition (medium village) and the result of the final judging is awaited. The village has previously won the cup on seven occasions as well as being runners-up four times. The village is looking particularly well this millennium year and the parish council wishes to thank all those who care for the village, in so many ways, throughout the year.

MARIE CURIE SUPPORT GROUP: The group's target of £25,000 has now been reached and this represents the cost of one nurse for 367 nights. The local chairman/organiser, Mrs Jean Bickerstaff, wishes to thank, once again, all those who have helped and supported the many fund-raising events.

HM QUEEN ELIZABETH, THE QUEEN MOTHER: A message of congratulations and best wishes has been sent to HM The Queen Mother, on behalf of the parish council and residents, on the occasion of her 100th birthday.

WEDNESDAY CLUB: The new season of the Wednesday Club will start on September 27 with the AGM in the village hall at 2.45pm. A full programme of speakers and other events has been arranged and new members will be most welcome at the fortnightly meetings. Enquiries to the chairman, Miss Helen Rhoden (852890).
