Moreton: THE Prime Minister, Clement Attlee and his wife were present in Moreton-in-Marsh for a short time on Monday evening. Cotswolds: LITTER-inundated parishes in the Cotswolds will be relieved to know that as from April 1 next year, the district council becomes responsible for keeping streets tidy.

The Cotswold district council is hoping that the parishes will be helpful and not insist on a higher standard of cleaning than they aim for at present, as it all has to be paid for out of the rates. The council's personal services committee was told that from April, the district would be required to carry out the cleaning of all places where litter is found.
