MALVERN Hills and Evesham Colleges are due to be merged tomorrow.

Staff from Evesham College are to visit their colleagues at Malvern and hear a talk by the principal of the new merged college, David Blades, who is currently head at Evesham.

Since 1982, the Wyvern Trust has been responsible for Malvern Hills College, located in Albert Road North, and which is set to be expanded with the addition of several teaching rooms.

"All staff are being transferred under the same terms and conditions as before," said Lionel Carter, the director of Malvern Hills College.

Mr Carter, who is to become a member of the senior management team, said the move was designed to pool resources and there would no "restructuring of staff".

The new college will have several thousand students.

On Saturday, September 30, the trustees will join governors, staff and students to celebrate the Wyvern Trust's work over the past 18 years.

Councillor Pat Raven, chairman of Malvern Hills District Council, is to unveil a plaque at the Malvern site at 6pm tomorrow.

Anyone who wants to attend is welcome to do so.
