CHURLISH Charm can be re-warded for his consistent efforts at the very highest level with a deserved first success of the season in the Salisbury Festival Conditions Stakes tomorrow.

The winner of last year's Yorkshire Cup looked set to take high order among the stayers but disappointed on his only subsequent start in the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot and missed the reminder of the season.

He started 2000 in good style, finishing third to Kayf Tara in the same event at the Knavesmire before chasing home Persian Punch in the Henry II Stakes at Sandown.

The five-year-old then disappointed at the Curragh before finishing a respectable sixth in the Goodwood Cup, looking slightly unlucky in running.

A win in this notably-easier contest will provide Churlish Charm with avaluable confidence-boost and can put him back on track for a crack at some of the better stayers' races towards the back-end of the season. John Hills looks to have found an ideal opportunity for Tempting Fate tocontinue her education in the Dick Poole Fillies' Conditions Stakes.

After her Newbury success on her latest start, Hills admitted he was "kicking himself" for not having entered her in the Cheveley Park Stakes now that she was showing so much speed.

Evidently Tempting Fate did not always look like she would be top-class but there was no doubting the merit of her latest win, which was achieved under considerable market support.

A step up to seven furlongs will suit later this season but in the meantime, Salisbury's stiff six should prove just the ticket.

A return to two miles can see Remember Star exploit a featherweight in the Arena Leisure Handicap at Lingfield.

The seven-year-old showed much-improved form for trainer Rodney Baker earlier in the year when campaigned over hurdles and has translated that to the Flat this summer, running consistently well on all four of his starts.

Most recently, he found a mile and a half on the sharp side at Brighton and he can use his stamina to better effect here.

Volontiers flopped when gambled-on at Goodwood on his last start but has been given a short break since and can return to form in the Lingfield Golf Club Handicap.

David Brotherton's remarkable broodmare Indigo enjoyed yet another famous success at the weekend when Surprised won the big sprint handicap at Goodwood, having already produced smart sprinters Bishops Court, Surprise Mission and Astonished.

Amazed is yet to emulate the wins of his relatives but the three-year-old is certainly going the right way and can oblige in the Cravery Restaurant Handicap.

Look north of the border to Musselburgh for the best bet of the day where Gymcrak Flyer can win the 13th race of her long career in the Miners DayHandicap.

Gordon Holmes' old stager is not quite as quick as she used to be but hasdropped to a lowly handicap mark, 10lb lower than when taking this corresponding event from an unfavourable draw 12 months ago.

Indeed, Gymcrak Flyer has often come good at this time of the year and she certainly looked to be running back into form when a close-up fifth at Carlisle on her latest start.

Everything looks to be in her favour for her to roll back the years again.
