A correspondent recently expressed concern regarding the possible closure by Redditch Council of allotments on Winstone Close in Lakeside.
We can reassure Mr O'Brien the council has no plans to close allotments by Farm Road/Winstone Close. All we are doing is simply reducing the amount of land given over to allotments here.
We have more allotment sites than demand, with many sitting disused for a number of years.
So, may I also use this opportunity to remind readers that residents can rent allotments on this (and other council sites) for a low weekly cost. More details from Emma Butterworth on 464005.
