A SPECTACULAR batting collapse led to another defeat for Chaddesley Corbett Cricket Club in the Worcestershire County League and increased the threat of relegation from Division One.

At 100-3 in the 32nd over, a large total seemed possible, Kevin Truswell having reached 40 from 56 balls, with eight fours, and a strong middle order to come.

Will Thomas then produced a spell of superb bowling, taking 5-5 in 14 balls, and off-spinner Damien D'Oliveira grabbed two wickets in two overs as Chaddesley collapsed to 115 in 35.3 overs.

Ombersley were rocking at 50-3 in reply, with Andy Elbro claiming two early wickets, but despite leg spinner Sam Boden taking two further wickets, Ombersley won in the 27th over by five wickets.

Chaddesley 115 (Kevin Truswell 56, Will Thomas 7-62, Damien D'Oliveira 2-13), Ombersley 118-5 (Damien D'Oliveira 41no, Sam Boden 2-13, Andy Elbro 2-35).

Chaddesley v Aston Manor - Chaddesley won by eight wickets

Chaddesley gained their first win for more than a month with this thrashing of Aston Manor.

Manor raced to 50 in 12 overs, but the introduction of Dan Wiseman proved vital as he forced Furnell into a mis-timed hook to mid-on and then bowled Rasul and Hudson in successive balls. Runs came more easily then but a superb run out by Chris Donohoe ended the innings.

In reply Truswell's untroubled 99no from 116 balls ensured victory and in a 14-over partnership with Matt Boden, which yielded 93, Chaddesley were triumphant with 11 overs to spare.

Aston Manor 171 (Rahim 51, Dan Wiseman 3-29, Matt Boden 2-20), Chaddesley 172-2 (Kevin Truswell 99no, Rahim 2-16).
