WORCESTER City manager John Barton expects another testing game when he takes his side to Merthyr Tydfil on Monday in the Dr Martens League Premier Division (3pm).

The Welsh club have spent boldly in the summer in a bid to challenge for the title.

However, City have an excellent recent record against Merthyr, winning their last four meetings home and away, and will be hoping to continue their own encouraging start.

Barton said: "I don't know too much about it but they have tried to improve their situation and turn it round to their advantage. Any match in Wales is always highly competitive.

"But whoever you play with a week of the season gone, it is still a very even, competitive league."

Kidderminster Harriers have an all-ticket clash at Brighton in the Nationwide League Division Three (3pm).

Brighton have one win and one defeat from their first two games, but are difficult to beat at the Withdean Stadium, which they moved into last season.

Boss Jan Molby is hoping for better support after a disappointing turn-out for last week's defeat at Scunthorpe. He said: "I hope there will be a good number who travel down to Brighton because we need their support."

Hereford United are at Edgar Street for a Nationwide Conference clash with Northwich Victoria (3pm), who lost their opening two games.

Director of Football Graham Turner will be confident of another good result after taking four points from their first two matches.

He said: "We will have them watched today and I will get reports on them. I do know that they haven't started the season too well."

Telford United play the second of six home matches at Worcester's St George's Lane ground when they take on Forest Green Rovers (3pm).
