SOON the new Waitrose store will be open but you may not have noticed that unobtrusive little pile towering above ancient buildings, it's that mountain of new brick, glass and metal with a white roof...depicting snow no doubt.

The only other white roofed building I know of is Sizewell B in East Anglia. Whose bright idea was it to copy the roof colouring of a nuclear reactor?

One difference is the construction company there didn't have to paddle through brine to secure the footings.

What a surprise now as Councillor Martin Jennings tells us we have scooped the Audit Commission Housing Performance Award.

I think it means Droitwich managed to cram more houses than anyone else into a small space, without extending any other form of pleasure amenities for its residents.

I wonder if Mr Jennings has ever tried getting into the leisure pool? This was over-subscribed from its conception and we now have thousands more residents to accommodate.

What a pity his comments about 'promoting a healthier lifestyle' is such a sham. And he says he can't guarantee the English weather for walking, but he can guarantee Droitwich residents he will do all in his power to destroy any hope of giving them positive recreation in the form of a brine lido.

Disgusted
