SPEAKER Linda Barr was from Traidcraft, a Christian response to poverty. Traidcraft started in 1979 and has been helping hard-working producers from poor communities around the world work their way out of poverty. They work with people of all faiths and those of none.
Linda has been involved since the early days and was employed for over four years as regional advisor in the late 1980s. She travelled to Bangladesh and India in 1979.
The talk was especially relevant with the G8 summit, debt relief aid and trade talks so much in the news. It helped members understand the many problems poor people face trying to live on as little as 50p a day.
